TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY POST - South America -

South America on Film - Blog-37.jpg

Ahh looking back at these is making me miss South America so much! LOOK AT ALL THE COLOURS. I have continued love affair with film right in 2019 and when we decided to voyage around South America for 6 weeks from February there was no question which camera with would be trusty companion. As it turned out as much as I love these I do wish I had brought my digital with me too.. I also realised my lens had developed a kind of fault too which means it misses focus A LOT and there’s nothing more frustrating than thinking you nailed a shot to find out 8 weeks later when the films developed that you did in fact, not.

The things I look for when I shoot weddings are colour, movement, composition, light, perspective, symmetry, emotions ... and most importantly a moment. It’s about seeing things differently to other people and capturing that, which is why I find photography fascinating.

On all my trips I am thinking about what makes a good travel photograph and really it’s the same as everything that I mentioned I look for with weddings, but also with a unique insight into another culture, place, religion, community or lifestyle. The best travel images inspire people, bring out curiosities and broaden thoughts processes. Yep, nailing all the technical aspects AND the travel aspect is very hard…

Now brace yourself because there is about 40 and that is the cut down version…
