Thailand, 2023
The last bit of our trip saw us fly from Da Nang in Vietnam to Bangkok, where we met Grandpa! Every time we get to a hotel room anywhere, the boys play this funny game where they immediately run for room phone and start ‘calling’ Grandpa. So this time they did it, he crept to our room and was waiting outside. You should have seen their faces!
The next day we headed down the coast by train to our new spot. Years ago, one of the favourite part of our travels was the Prachup Khiri Khan region. We hopped on and off trains and stayed at a few homestays andd it was beautiful , the beaches were empty and the people were so welcoming. This time we opted to stay in the biggest nearby town which was Hua Hin (2/10 would highly not recommend) but it did meet ours needs for a house, a base, and a childcare setting for the kids! We hired a car for the whole month so we could go off exploring, which was incredibly welcome in the near 40 degree heat. Sam Roi Yot in an exquisite national park nearby so we did a few day trips there, as well as a few waterfalls, plenty of beach time, an elephant national park, and of course several water parks! It was incredibly special for the boys to have my dad there with us and I know we will all treasure those memories.
